Good to be back to school.......NOT!!! But it was fun to run with a bunch of people after school (Ruth, Decker, RJ, Austin, Coach). We went down 2450 to the trails and I turned around at 2.5. On the way back I was tired mostly from the faster start and it was up hill. I didn't run yesterday so I think that is why my shins hurt today. Pretty good run.

Cross Country Thursdays! From now on wear something cross country every Thursday.

Went out and ran with the club today. It was a good run and I am glad that I went. We went out on the trails (I think Snow Canyon parkway) and I turned around at the baseball fields. Ran faster with everyone at the beginning and also tried to keep a good pace on the way back. Good run.

Played basketball this morning, got some good running in from running up and down the court.

Ran out into Washington "greenpole", a little with Ruth and farther with Coach Holt. Shins didn't hurt like they have been after not running for a day or more. Felt pretty good, got tired (probably a little burnt from b-ball) on the way back. A little cold but a good run.

Ran the Staheli Hill run. Started with Coach, Decker, Kimze, and Austin all for about the first 2 miles. Ran really fast at the beginning and then died on the Staheli hill. Really pushed at the end of the run, still felt burnt. I think I need to sleep more so my body can get some time to recover. This run I ran harder/faster/ worked hard than any run for awhile. Good run, felt good.

Bank/Maverich run from my house after my neighbors funeral. It was very cold today. I forced myself to get out and run and decided to do 4 miles with some race pace tempo whatever you call it. I took it easy the first mile, the next two at 6:30 pace, and an easy last mile. Those middle miles were so hard! Good run battling the cold and hitting some faster miles.

I did the 5k today, I didn't think I was ready for the 1/2. This morning I was feeling really negative and not too excited to go run. I knew I was just being stupid and I would be glad that I did it. Drove over and had about a 1/4 of a mile warm up from where I parked. I was feeling pretty good and ready to go. ate a gue.

Start of the race was a little packed, just like a normal race, but after a minute or two I got into a good position. I was feeling really good, 6:30 pace right where I wanted to be!

1st mile 6:22  Passed a lot of people the first mile. I was a little surprised that I was feeling so good because before I was worried that I wouldn't beable to go at any race pace.

2nd mile 6:30  The turn around was in the middle of this mile (1.50). I was running with this one guy for a little bit but he dropped back before the turn around and I was alone from there. As people were coming back towards me from the turn around I saw that I was probably out of top three in my age group. I didn't worry about it and kept on pushing to keep this middle mile on pace.

3rd mile 6:16  Last mile! I was starting to feel it. I was feeling good but in pain at the same time, felt really good if you know what I mean. Kicked it into the finish to end a great race.

This was a great race. The weather was good, fun to be with everyone and see people from the blog, and I am happy about how I did. Last year my time was 19:58, 7th overall and 3rd in my age group. I wasn't totally prepared and trained for the race but still did good.

Washington parkway run. Haven't run this far for awhile but decided to go for it. Started out with a bunch of people but couldn't keep up. It was a very hard run today. My knees and shins hurt like they usually do after days not running plus my legs and back hurt. I guess it's being sore from the Painters 5k. I was really digging it from the desert back to the school. I'm going to start running more miles like this to get ready for track.

Tried on the new track jerseys/uniforms after school. They are pretty cool, I can't wait to get them. After that I went for a nice SNOWY run. I ran with Decker and we did the DI loop, a .5 grass loop, a lap on the track, and then ran around on the field.  The coldest part of the run was when we were running North so the snow was right into our face. The signs said like 34 degrees and then the wind was way cold. Once the wind was at our backs it wasn't that bad. It was a cool run!

Once I got to the top of the Coral Canyon hill I stopped for a little bit, ate some snow and then went on a trail. The trail wasn't going the way I needed to go so I turned around and got back to the road, this is where I went extra on the distance. Felt really good at times on the way back. Tempo miles today at the cemetery. Easy warm up about 2 miles out (Bake ran with us this far) and then 2 tempo miles without a break inbetween. I let Austin and Willy use my watch and I tried to stay with Ruth. Ran the first one with Ruth right where we wanted to be at 6:20. I fell back from Ruth for the second one and ran a 6:45. Then we ran one easy and back to the school. This workout was pretty hard and I need to work on my endurance. (About 7.5 miles).

4x100 (1/2 mile) barefoot striders on the football field (like yesterday). Felt pretty good. Need to work on my form/speed so I can keep up with Ruth. :)

Weights. 3 sets of everything, except bench (to scared without someone to help me) and I forgot to do those front sit up things. Hard but Good to get back into the weight room. Now I will get into a better system, I don't think I did enough today but I will do better.

Got into physical therapy today and had Rhett help me out. I did the weird electric muscle massager thing and some stretching. Rhett worked with my hip and did some stretching stuff. Track practice started today, officially. I ran a warm up lap nice and easy and did all the agilities and stuff and my hip felt good. I started with everybody but watched as they left me and ran off into the distance. I ran easy and slow and it felt good. Leg didn't hurt but I felt kind of sore from not running for a week. Stretched good after the run.

I'll make sure to keep it easy and slowly get back into it. Talked with Coach and I'll probably run 3 everyday this week. I'm guessing the coreshorts/compression shorts will be here this week and they should help also.

My left knee got all fat this weekend and Rhett said I have "housemaids knee." It is really weird. He said something like I broke a bursa or Bursitis something and now it's all swollen. I have no idea what I did. It's not a big deal, just weird (and it kind of hurts). I'm getting old!

3200 So I was all ready to run in the slow heat and the race director guys got all mad and said that my "Spandex" was illegal (you could see them, 2 colors). I didn't really know what to do, I tried to tell them that they were "coreshorts" but I was just to shy about it. So I was going to run in the fast heat without them but my Dad talked to them and told them I had to wear them and they let me wear them in the fast heat. I was pretty embarrassed and mad about the whole thing.

After all that crazyness I am kind of glad that I ran in the fast heat because it really pushed me. I was one of the last in the race but I got a PR by 13 seconds. I am happy about this time, I have been hurt and I still got a PR today. I am excited to get healthy and bring my times down.

I had my sister get my splits on my garmin and they are a little off from what coach had but it's close. Need to work on my endurance, last mile was pretty slow, and each lap got slower. I got really tired and I think my form got bad so I'll work on that. Good run.

Good runs man! You really helped me on the mile.

From Dustin on Sat, Mar 08, 2008 at 19:40:58

Good job on the mile today Jeff. Just stay consistent with your training and your times will start coming down, remember you guys haven't even done any speed stuff yet and the season is still really early.

Just looking at the splits the first lap was probably a bit fast, which usually happens in high school races when you have a bunch of guys taking off and you usually have two or three kids that are pushing the pace that don't fully understand what pace they should be running.

I think for you and I don't know much about your training or racing, so I could be way off, but I would focus on running 1:20's or more equal splits, which based off this race would make your first lap quite a bit slower, but would be right around where you ran your 2nd and 4th laps.

In my experience the 3rd lap has always been the most difficult, but if you can learn to hit that lap at your goal pace, then I think in most races you should have enough competition and excitement to finish the 4th lap strong.

Anyway, sorry for the lecture, but I'm expecting to see a sub 5:20 next meet and lower 5's by the end of the season. I also think you should go after that goal of breaking 11:00 in the two mile.

Good Luck!

Went over to AC then to hearts and down Industrial, did a loop around where we do mile repeats and down to Riverside, then up to my house and around my neighborhood to finish. Started fast but slowed down. Hip and knee hurt a little.

We are hosting a track meet this weekend, Pine View Invitational (starts @ 3pm today, 9am tomorrow). I am running the mile today. I feel tired right now but I am planning on breaking through that and running strong.

Goal 1600  < 5:20

1600 Got out of school early and ran 3 laps with Goold and Kimzey. Ran another .50 warm up later (and .50 cool down after race). I had to wear spandex over my coreshorts because I didn't want to mess with the 2 colors rule, it was kind of uncomfortable but didn't bother me during the race.

I ran hard and tried to push myself extra the last half but ended up not running much faster. I did PR by 5 seconds and got my goal of under 5:20.

3200 Got to bed late but slept solid until the morning, didn't feel too sore just kind of tired. There was like 86 people running the two mile so it took a while to get the race started. Ran a .50 warm up and got ready.

Ran in the middle heat with Decker. It was hard and I don't think I did very good. About the 6th lap I picked up my pace and passed a lot of people. felt like I was running faster but I was really just not slowing down I guess. You have to push yourself to not slow down and then push even more to go faster during the race.

1- 1:13 Under pace, got some confidence.

2- 1:20 Right on pace.

3- 1:18 pushed through.

4- 1:14 Dug with Decker right at the end.

5- 1:17 nice

7- 1:19 Started slow but pushed hard to get back up.

8- 1:15 Last one, felt tired but ended up awesome.

1.5miles cool down, up to Harts and back. Very happy about the workout. It wasn't as terrible as I thought and I did really good. Next time we run 400s I'll push all the way through and be faster.

Went for my long run today. I thought that it would be closer to 8 but it wasn't and I didn't want to run extra when I got home (*Now it's driving me CRAZY that I didn't). I went up the street and left all the way to Arctic Cirlce and kept going. I went down the road past the outlet malls and target and stuff, nice down hill. Then I went left around Formaster and onto the trails, then up to my house.

It was a pretty good run. It's been a long week, ran pretty good and a lot, and I'm tired. Really need new shoes because my shins are starting to hurt. Glad that I'm done, ready to rest!

1600 - 5:09 PR!! By 8 seconds. All of yesterday and today I told myself that this was the race, today is the day. I was ready to run hard and I did it today.

1- 1:12 I didn't have a great start but by the first 100 I was in the open and the fast guys were right in front of me.

2- 1:17 Slowed down but I was right on pace (2:30).

3- 1:22 I will work on this lap. got to cut some time off here. (3:52)

4- 1:17 I passed Willy and he was cheering me on. Just tried to finish strong.

5:09

I thought about practice and doing 400s and 1200s and it really helped. I knew I could run fast 1/4 at my goal pace, just had to put them together. Push pass the limits.

It was a great race! Very happy, close to my goal of breaking 5.

800 - 2:26. Even splits from what I heard: 1:13, 1:13. Tried to run fast. Legs were tired, but still tried to run. Still have to run faster in the 800.

Went to the Doctor today for my mission check up. Had to get blood drawn and a TB test (with another needle). I really hate needles so that wasn't too fun, But I am 6.1 3/4 tall and weigh 148 pounds. So besides that I'm healthy, JK! Can't wait to get my mission papers done and turned in.

3200 - Had to wait all day for the 2 mile. Whenever we have to wait a long time to run I get nervous and it messes with my head, so I like when my event is first. Ran a 1 mile warm up and checked in. By the time I got to the starting line they were ready to go so I didn't have time to put my race shoes on, ran in my regular 2120s.

During the race I thought I was doing ok and I was passing people but ended up being slow. Couldn't breath great. I ended up being 4th or 5th in the heat.

1600 - Didn't have to wait long this morning for the 1 mile, ran a .60 warm up (.5 cool down after). I was so ready for this race, even had my spikes on! I was ready for a great race and even more ready to have a great race after the horrible one yesterday.

1- 1:09 After the first 100 I was right behind Danny and Willy. Ran a way fast first lap and I was excited to be on pace, actually under pace.

2- 2:27 (1:18) I am in the lead! I was feeling good and was pushing it to keep on pace.

3- 3:54 (1:27) They call "Bryan Lunt in the lead" over the speaker, instead of "Jeff Frodsham". I wanted to hear my name so bad! I didn't know I slowed down so much on this lap untel I hear 3:54. dang.

4- 5:19 (1:25) Danny passes me with like 300 to go and Willy gets me with like 50 to go.

WELL CRAP!!!

Pretty ticked off because I felt like I killed myself but I ended up with another freakin 5:20 mile when I was going for under 5. I don't know, maybe I started too fast but I knew I had to go hard to get what I wanted. That's how fast I'll have to go if I want to break 5.

My R hip flexor and ham string area really hurt. The first half the most, after that it only hurt bad right at the start of the run. Probably from my shoes.

Total Distance

Ran a mile warm up with BY and Decker. Got ready for the JV mile.

1600 I started bad and ended up in the back but I worked my way up to the front. By the second lap I was in about 4th. On the 3rd lap I took the lead and pushed hard. The 3rd lap is always hard and I knew I needed to gut it out. On the final lap I think I was at 3:46ish and coach was telling me to run a 1:14 just like practice. I tried hard to dig and kick to the finish. I held on to win and get a PR by 6 seconds, 5:03. I wanted to break 5 but I feel pretty happy because I know I put it all out there. Felt so dead and exhausted but we live for that.

I think these are right. 1:12 1:18 (2:30) 1:16 (3:46) 1:17

Thought about retiring and not running the 2 mile but talked with my Dad and decided to go for it.

3200 - My friend, sean the thrower, ran a couple laps and threw up. It was funny and he pulled me out way fast on the first lap. Tried to run strong for my last 2 miler and I won. I was pretty tired but ran ok. 11:22, I'll put splits in later.

Fun track meet, everyone did great. The girls tried hard, I feel bad they didn't get what they wanted but they are still so awesome. Boys won region! Some sweet races today.

Hi Jeff,

I have heard that congratulations are in order. That is something else to receive your mission call before high school graduation. Anyway Jill told me about your call and that it is Spanish speaking. What an awesome call .. . . and a beautiful place of the world to serve. I am also a little envious of the opportunity to learn Spanish. I served with Elders who had learned a foreign language. When we were out knocking on doors and really bored a couple of them taught me the baptismal prayer in Spanish along with the first four articles of faith. Anyway congratulations again.

Ran around the track (or not track because it is all torn up and just cement) at like 1 am with Ruth. We had a party outside during our crazy Indian Jones marathon. We ran around with everyone with no shoes and played leap frog and just had fun. It was a blast!!!!!

I'm enjoying partying and graduating!!! I'll get running for wasatch soon.

This is me opening my mission call last week. Just wanted to share it with anyone who wants to watch it.

Ran AC from my house. It was a hard run because my knees (mostly my right) are killing me! I don't know if it's from not running and just hurts to run again or if it is my shoes. I also didn't wear my coreshorts yesterday or today, trying to see if I don't have to wear them anymore (hurts a little). Slowly trying to get back into it, body doesn't feel great.

So yesterday my Dad and  I drove to Provo before our van broke down. We had to stay in a hotel Thursday night and drive a borrowed truck from JPG up the canyon on Friday. Then on Saturday my Mom had to drive our truck with a big old car hauler up from St. George to get us back home. We had a lot of car trouble on this trip but besides that it was great.

I didn't run today. I was camping so there was no showers and I didn't make time for running (I probably could have), basically I was lazy and just didn't want to.

My R knee hurt very bad after the drive thursday night, I think it was just from being cramped up. I could hardly walk! It feels ok today (sunday), so I can do some serious running to get ready for the Wasatch Back Relay. Being up in the MTNs got me excited for Wasatch!

Well, I think I need to write in my journal better so I don't have to put all this in my RUNNING blog.

WBR practice. We ran the loop on the river trails. My r hip flexor area hurt and my r knee hurt. I think I'll wear the coreshorts next run and hopefully I should get my new shoes (I ordered some in at the running store), and maybe that will help. I ran with Ethan the whole way. Besides hurting and being out of shape it was a fun run.

WBR practice. We drove (all the boys in the back of the truck) up to Oak Grove for our run tonight. We ran up this road that was mostly up hill. I ran pretty good, my lungs were burning at first and my knee felt ok. We ran 40 minutes up the hill. I ran 4.15 miles in 40 minutes and then turned around. That is when my knee started hurting. It hurt really bad on the down hill and my hip flexor/ ham string started up too. Decker caught me and ran with me to the finish. I started to feel better the last 2 miles or so. Got up at 5am and drove up to Cedar with the Deckers (Ross, Josh, Lindsey Pugmire, Austin, and Trevor). Warmed up a little .25 (.50 cool down) and got ready to race. It was cold but once I started running it felt great. The race started and off we went.

1- 6:08 Felt good, first mile.

2- 6:10 (12:18) Decided to try and keep the pace at 6:00 (or close. tried to keep it at least under 6:30 as the race went on).

3- 6:15 (18:33) Got half way, doing good, told myself that the next two miles where going to be the hardest.

4- 6:19 (24:53) Legs were tired and calves tight but I kept pushing through it hard.

5- 6:24 (31:18) Still doing good. Started slowing down but tried to keep going. I really wanted to rest on this mile but I knew I coudn't. Started onto the trail.

6- 6:23 (37:41) Last mile, it was really hard. Still down hill with some up hill. End of the race I was getting tired. There was someone behind me and someone in front of me, ended up passing the guy in front. Just tried to push it in.

38:51. Great time. 3 minute PR. This time is from this course last year. I know it's down hill and everything, but oh well.

My splits got slower and slower but I didn't feel like I was slowing down. I felt like I was keeping a good pace. I need to keep pushing extra hard as the race goes on. Getting better at 10Ks. My knee was sore but it didn't hurt bad, so that is really good!

Good run and a lot of fun. We will see how the 5K goes tomorrow.

We left in the morning and got to the starting line to run at 5. We started out with the big guns, both FRB teams and BYU.

Leg 3 I started my first leg at about 6:30. I was excited to run and I think I started out to fast. It was still a little hot. I got so tired and died the last part of the run. Coach D. ran with me for the last 2 miles or so. That was a hard run. Excited to be into the race.

Leg 15 Started this leg a little after 1 am. I ate a gu and it made my stomach kind of sick. I started out very good feeling great. It was fun running through a little residential area passing sighns cheering on the relay in front of houses. It was the middle of the night and very cool temps, awesome. My knee started acting up probably halfway through the run. My knee and feeling like I was going to through up slowed me down. I tried to push through it. The last 1/2 mile or more I was really kicking it in! This leg ended up being longer and the exchange was really confusing but I made it.

Then we got to sleep. I don't know how long but it felt like I slept for a long time.

He told me to have no regrets, it was pretty much my last big run/race before I leave. So with those two things I ran one of the best runs ever! I just pushed myself the whole time, I passed a ton of people and that was pretty fun, it was just great. Coach D. joined me for the last part of the run. So I finished with the best of my 3 legs, feeling tired but awesome. Nice!

O ya I know what your talking bout.

"People are dying, what would you have me do?"

"Endure. You could be the outcast. You can make the choice that no one else will face, the right choice. Gotham needs you!"

Stole that off a trailer

Ran PVXC this afternoon. It was hot! We did a warm up, stretch, and then ran the Greensprings 3 miler. It was great to run and run with those younger guys, besides old coach Holt :) I fell back a little on the way back but pushed it and stayed with them. By the time I finished I thought I was going to die. I'm glad I got out and ran and put myself throught the heat and pain, one last time.

I go to the MTC for my mission early this wednesday morning. I'm very nervous and very excited. Running XC has really help prepare me for a mission. I have learned so many valuable lessons that I will use on a mission.

you are leaving for a "mission" like a soldier in the middle of the year? How do missions in LDS Church work? Just curious because we don't have them in mine. Do they pay you?
